Ok, so this is my contest entry for 's latest contest, to illustrate a lyric from any show. I chose ALW, I'm most familiar with it out of all the versions. I chose the lyric "Wildly My mind beats against you...Yet the soul obeys!" It's one of my favorites in my favorite scene in the movie.
I think it really defines Christine: she wants so badly for her father to be with her again, or to have sent her an Angel of Music, she's willing to continue to delude herself. She's not stupid, she's human. It's kind of surprising what you can convince yourself to believe if you want it badly enough. I think the line also shows her relationship with our lovely Phantom, she knows what he is, but something inside her still wants to believe in him and trust him, even though she knows better.
I made Erik standing in front of a statue of two angels with their wings outstretched, and a lantern overhead to make him seem more angelic to her. I would believe he was an angel maybe, if this is how he appeared.
So yeh, I hope you like it. I did it in acrylics and it took literally forever. This was my first attempt at acrylics, and I think...I hate them. Lol, watercolor is so much easier! I know, practice makes perfect, let's just say I'm not going to practice on more acrylics for a while. Sorry if the pic isn't great, I had to take a picture with my camera, and it was mean to me.
