Alrighty. Here's probably one of hte best ways to see how truly nerdy I am. So I was watching the Bleach episodes for the first time in quite a while. From 166-- to the most recent. Some thoughts.
Firstly. I like the new opening.
That being said....here are my problems.
1) ----It starts off by saying in the new filler, 168, I believe, that Orihime was rescued, they all returned to the real world, blah blah. A strange place to be putting fillers, methinks. It makes sense in that they're trying to let the manga get ahead again or whatever, but the manga continues, obviously, in a different place. In the manga, Rukia's hurt after her battle with the 9th Espada, Ichigo's battle with Grimmjow is only kinda over, and Nnoitra comes along, Renji and Ishida are still in the middle of their fight with stupid Szayel!!! Chad is...somewhere, I forget where he is. So in the anime, what, does everybody just get up from where they're hurt, or be all like, oh hey, let's stop this battle so I can go home now. NOOOO. It's stupid. The whole point, is that the Captains come in and finish off many of the Espada. Byakuya shows he could possibly care for Rukia (even though he refers to her as "that"), calls Hanatarou an eyesore (hilarious! poor guy), and squashes Zomari. Important. That's one less Espada to deal with later, and it's hardcore how Byakuya slits his own tendons not to give control to the Espada. Kenpachi also shows up, his fight with Nnoitra is a big deal. Plus, both of them have badass eyepatches.

Finally, Mayuri and Szayel. Another big deal, as well as a rather twisted fight. Mayuri's weapon is really awesome, but scary as hell. I almost felt bad for Number Eight. That, and it saves Renji and Ishida, though, in my opinion, as crazy as Szayel is, they should have, together, been able to beat him somehow.
The captains going to Hueco Mundo is a main part of Aizen's plot. To lure Ichigo, his friends, and some of the Captains to Hueco Mundo, trap them there, then take out Karakura while they're stuck unable to defend. KIND OF A BIG DEAL. The fact that they just rescued Orihime and got out again easy as pie pisses me off. They didn't even show it, they just expect us to believe that Rukia stood up, brushed herself off after pretty much being killed, and that Renji and Ishida, just-what-shook Eight's hand and just left? And that Grimmjow would die that easily? NO! (plus I have a theory that he comes back later in the manga just to be a hassle cause he doesn't really die) PISH POSH!
I know, I know...I'm taking this far too seriously. But these are important scenes for the story. Tite Kubo drew his manga with consideration, I don't think he was all like--"oh, what the hell, let's just have this happen now." ...And if he did...It's good anyway. The problem is that the timing for the fillers is/was wrong. It doesn't make sense with the plot. Though I despise the Bount arc, at least the TIMING isn't wrong. It could--maybe--happen while everyone in Soul Society is trying to really figure out what to do about what just happened--Aizen's betrayal. I started watching the show before reading the manga, and I didn't even really realize that it was a filler at first. Sure, it wasn't as good as before, and I was happy that it returned back to the former plot, but, I'm just saying, it's obvious now. The whole--this isn't really part of the story--thing. It offends me. How are they going to put everyone back in Hueco Mundo, all hurting in the same way or fighting with the same people again to pick up where they left off again? I mean, at least with the Bounts, all the Shinigami come back to tell Ichigo about the Arrancar and Rukia shows up again, quickly back to the original plot. I dunno how they're going to do it this time.
Also, Aizen explains why capturing Orihime was relevant. This cut off doesn't show him explaining. Orihime ends up not being important at all, just a distraction. Again, important to the plot....(and the fact that I don't really like her, so was all like "ha ha!" but still felt bad for her at the same time....) And then Ichigo and Ulquiorra start fighting, blah blah, you know the rest. HOW are they going to solve the problems this gap brings up??? HOW?!?!! .....Despite how offensive it is, it at least makes me curious.
2)----The new characters....Like Amagai (did I get that right, I dunno) the new Captain. Once again, doesn't fit with former plot. In the original, it's only a small number of Captains available to fight Aizen. Adding a new Captain adds a new source of power to the mix, tipping the balance. Aizen's plan was crafted so that there wouldn't be much power in Soul Society....doesn't make sense. That being said, I was mildly amused with him. The whole light-weight drinker thing did make me chuckle...but only a little. And under my breath. He's entertaining, yes, but Kira is boring. I never cared for him too much, he's weak. Lol, I'm a harsh critic. The 3rd seat...Kifune? Was that his name? Is weird looking. Just his outfit, his little funny collar and fancy glasses, hahahah. Reminds me of Szayel, who is very flamboyant. I'm enjoying the bit about the Princess. Inoue's "warrior princess" idea was hilarious, but makes me a little sad for Inoue...she's an airhead. The big, silent guy is funny. ...I wonder if he fought Chad, who would win. Probly Chad.
Um, I like seeing parts of Ichigo's more day-to-day life, too, like all the stuff with Isshin. Funny stuff, like with the trampoline...LOL. Laughed quite a bit at that, and then when he gets the glass in his butt too....good times. ...Uh....why is Renj fighting Byakuya again in the opening?? I hope they don't beat up on poor Renji, much Renji love, he always gets the short end of the stick, it seems. This whole thing is just so out of the blue. I don't dislike the new plot really but....all the problems that have arisen don't seem worth it. Ah well, I guess fillers were necessary, but why couldn't they do something better with them? Something that might pertain to the plot...eh.................
And...Ok...this isn't important at all but......
3)----I HATE how they're pushing the Orihime-Ichigo pairing in the anime. DETEST HATE HATE HATE. I was watching with Stephanie, and she was just laughing at me cause I was cringing at the whole Orihime/Ichigo hand holding thing at the end of 167. I'm really sorry if you like the pairing, but I don't. I'm really not a big Orihime fan. Plus, she doesn't GET Ichigo. She doesn't. She wants to, desperately, but...there's something missing, something lacking. Also, in the manga, she doesn't make the whole brother as a Hollow = Ichigo as a Vizard connection. A connection that makes sense to me, yes. She thinks about how she doesn't recognize him, likes he's a different person and she can't "see her reflection in his eyes". Meaning that it seems like, to her, he barely even really recognizes her anymore, I think. That seems....more important, to me. It's not about her brother, it's about her and Ichigo. Her feelings for him, her hope that he might come to really SEE her someday. Because he doesn't see her, not like that. This is relevant, the fact that the anime didn't include this only enforces my belief that they're rooting for Ichi-hime. Boo. They also create this staring thing that holds significance, and they hold hands...I'm sure many a fangirl was "awwing" at this point. Barf. (Lol.) He doesn't do that, he looks at her like a friend, talks to her like a friend, and then--to her great embarrassment, (and I can identify, cause I hate being picked up) he slings her over his shoulder and starts to leave. No real romance, no real click. He focuses on Nel just as much as Orihime, then makes the classic "boys are dumb" comment about her being heavy, lol. Lovely. In the anime, they just push the couple so much it makes me mentally nauseous, if there is such a thing. Which there isn't. Anyways....I do not support this couple. Not that my opinion holds any sway on the show at all, lol. I CAN see a basis for something between them, but not as strong as I see for Ichigo and another, which you can probably see from my art on DA, if not my stuff on FF. He really doesn't see Inoue that way, shrug. I'm only complaining because it makes me think that Tite Kubo might have wanted this to be in the show, wanted to show the beginnings of them maybe becoming a couple. MEH. If he really wanted them to be together, he'd just freakin' do it. They're his characters. Or maybe that the show wanted to add another kind of plot by creating this pseudo-romance crap.
ANYWAYS--fillers. Bleh.
That's my rant.....
Some more Bleach artses in process...
But I'm not interesting enough to think of other things to talk about right now. Going to hang out with Stephanie, her Will, and Petarrrr (haha pirate name for him

Inside joke, I'm afraid. )
Until next time,
